eActros 600 Reverse Driving

04.06.2025 | eActros 600

Mercedes-Benz Trucks will have its new e-flagship, the battery-electric eActros 600 long-haul truck, including a semitrailer, reverse more than 100 kilometers without a break. Mercedes-Benz Trucks intends to bring the previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title from 2020, which stood at around 89 kilometers and was set in the USA with a diesel truck, back to Germany. The drive in reverse takes place in Oschersleben in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt on June 4th. With this unusal acitivity, the manufacturer wants to draw attention to topics relevant to the transport industry and society: electrification, road safety and truck driver image.

The world-record trip was a success!

Mercedes-Benz Trucks set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with its battery-electric long-haul eActros 600 truck including a semitrailer. Having reversed 124.7 kilometers means the manufacturer beat the previous world record in continuously reversing with a truck by around 36 kilometers. The former world record of some 89 kilometers had been set in the USA in 2020 in a diesel truck. The record-breaking trip in reverse was held on Motorsport Arena Oschersleben racetrack in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany; it took around 6 hours and 22 minutes, which translates into an average speed of 20 kilometers per hour. With its 14 tight bends designed for cars, the circuit is extremely demanding – but nevertheless offered fewer unpredictable risks of having to stop and thus interrupt the record attempt than public roads.

Afterwards, the new electric long-haul truck from Mercedes-Benz Trucks caused quite a stir: the eActros 600 covered the approx. 30 kilometers between Oschersleben and Halberstadt in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt with its semitrailer exclusively in reverse on public roads and under a police escort. The finishing line at the new Daimler Truck Global Parts Center in Halberstadt was reached after around 2 hours to the applause of those involved, including Daniel Szarata, Senior Mayor of the City of Halberstadt, and Stefan Türk, Site Manager. The Halberstadt site will play an important role for Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the future: The Global Parts Center, which will officially open on July 10th, will gradually take over the manufacturer’s worldwide supply of spare parts from this year onwards.
